Monsoon Mullings

Monsoon Mullings

The rains have come
Dripping into the night
One could feel their cool smoothness
Lulled to sleep by the rhythmic pitter patter

A burst of bright orange
Lit the skies
And in an instant
It flooded the horizon
The streaks of red and purple
Painting a palette among the clouds

The chirping rose to a stealthily pace
The day's back-breaking work ensued
Coffee in tiffin mugs were passed around
The whole earth still clad in the dew of last night

I strode to our usual pond
A pebble marred my reflection in the waters
Water gliders skid smoothly across
My head still has lingering thoughts

Of pain
Of gain
Of worldly matters
Of unworldly dreams

I sunk my feet into the cool mud
And let the fresh dawn air wash upon me
I seek solace
Knowing you are always here
Somewhere, not lost.
