I fell in love with a painting
It was a blush pink lotus
In full bloom
Surrounded by other lotuses of
Hues of purple and brighter pink
I stood and stared at the picture
And all around me was quiet
It was as if time stood still and muted the background
I couldn't hear other people walking and browsing through the long art galleries
Of their hushed voices commenting on other paintings
Or the soft clicks of heels of women
Posh,
In their mink coats and haughty smiles
I fell in love with her
Staring at the lotus painting
Her brows so arched
As a slight frown marred her porcelain face
Her face framed by her long straight hair
And soft curls fell on her shoulders
She had the reddest pout ever possible
I couldn't get that picture out of my mind
It haunted me sometime now and then
Of that lovely woman looking at that lovely picture
Outside the Louvre
Autumn leaves was swirling around
Sidewalk cafes were displaying the season's best macaroons
Rose pink
Lavender violet
Beige vanilla
As Edith Piaf played in the background
I looked up and saw the majestic Eiffel
And I finally understood
Autumn ,
Is when
Paris is in love
